The Area
Over 320 days of sunshine each year. A unique
dry micro climate with remarkably low rainfall all year round and an average
mid day temperature of 76°F
Designated by the World Health Organisation as one of the healthiest places in Europe to live due to the climate created by the local salt lakes, which is reputed to be particularly beneficial for arthritis and asthma sufferers.
Playa Flamenca is situated on the Orihuela Costa and about 35 minutes from either Alicante or Murcia airports, 5 km south of Torrevieja and is accessed from the N332 Alicante to Cartegena road.
Playa Flamenca There are supermarkets, bars and restaurants all within walking distance together with an excellent open air market each Saturday.
Restaurants: Chinese Restaurant great value at £5 per head 3 course meals and a bottle of wine.
Villa Martin has a Vast array of restaurants English and German. Golf shops. Wonderful entertainment in the Summer month.
Local Bars include an Irish Bar with good entertainment in the evening.
Torrevieja is an attractive town and has preserved its unique charm and character; enjoy an early evening stroll along the promenade before calling at one of the many cafes, bars or restaurants for a meal or drink. On Fridays the largest outdoor market in southern Spain is held here.
The two large natural salt lakes around Torrevieja have contributed to the area's reputation as one of the healthiest places in the world to live and the mud baths there are a popular spot for locals and visitors alike looking to alleviate their aches and pains.The saltpans are also havens for birds. Large numbers of flamingos are resident.

The area to the south of Torrevieja is a golfer’s paradise with a championship course at Villamartin and other course’s at Las Ramblas and Campoamor, all within three miles of the Villa. Day and weekly membership available. Further a field, visit the unique inland sea of Mar Menor, which is separated from the Mediterranean by a narrow strip of land and sandbank thirteen miles long. The water is no more than 20feet deep and there are a large number of sandy beaches.
Further afield, a visit to the old towns of Orihuela and Murcia, passing through orange and lemon groves with lovely views of the mountains, is recommended. The city of Elche, renowned for its tens of thousands of palms and nearby sub-tropical gardens of Huerto del Cura, while Murcia’s cathedral ranks among the finest in Spain.. 45 mins drive takes you to the La Manga resort.
The newly-opened theme park of 'Terra Mitica' is approximately one hour's drive away. Local activities for all the family include horse-riding, go-karting, scuba-diving and sea-fishing.
Alicante. Elche, Murcia and Cartagena are all within an hour's drive. Each town has its own special Spanish flavour and a visit is recommended.
Mediterranean beaches The nearest beach, Playa Flamenca, is small, but within two miles are beaches at La Zenia, and Punta Prima . All beaches have the Blue Flag awards. A 30 min walk along the coastal path takes you to the small , But much-photographed beach and harbor of Cabo Roig. Excellent for combining a scenic walk with the chance of a swim or Tapas lunch at the beach bar.
